Heath Slater Felt Lost After Drew McIntyre And Jinder Mahal Were Released In 2014

Heath Slater, Jinder Mahal, and Drew McIntyre formed 3MB in 2012 and though the group didn’t have major success, everyone looks back fondly on their time together.

The group was together for less than two years when Mahal and McIntyre were released in June 2014. And without his bandmates, Slater began feeling lost.

“They put us all together and two years, traveling together, booked on everything. They got released and I was just lost. I remember going to [Mark] Carano and being like, ‘Why didn’t I get fired?’ Me being in 3MB for two years and then your buddies are gone, you’re standing alone, and I’m like ‘Uhhh, what do I do? Do I change again?’ I was lost for like a year. That’s when they put me back in factions. ‘Be a puzzle piece in this group.’ Then it’s being a free agent, ‘I got kids.’ I live in a trailer park and have 30 kids. What in the world? Just because I have an accent, I’m white trash trailer park? Why can’t I be like Kid Rock? I always had to play a role. I just want to be myself,” Slater said to Lilian Garcia on Chasing Glory.

Mahal returned to the company in 2016 and won the WWE Title in 2017. Meanwhile, McIntyre returned in 2017 and won the WWE Title at WrestleMania 36. Unfortunately for Heath, he finds himself on the opposite end of the spectrum now as he was released on April 15.

Elsewhere during the podcast, Slater discussed feeling burnt out at the end of his WWE run. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
