The Hardys and their newest brother are winning in the ratings, and they want to capture the gold.
On the January 5 episode of AEW Rampage, The Hardys (Matt and Jeff Hardy) teamed up with Mark Briscoe to defeat The Butcher, The Blade, and Kip Sabian. Matt Hardy later teased that the trio would be known as The Brethren ahead of their appearance on AEW Rampage.
The Hardys and Mark Briscoe appeared in a backstage interview on the January 12 episode of AEW Rampage, and they were asked about their alliance. Mark noted that it was a union that was felt around the globe, and he had a feeling that they were not done. Jeff said that they “kicked ass”, both in the ring and in the ratings, as Rampage beat Collision. Mark quipped that they should block out the hating because they were popping the ratings.
Matt replied by saying that he and Jeff wanted to win the AEW World Tag Team Championship, but he could see them chasing the trios titles with Briscoe. He praised Mark and noted that they respected him and Jay Briscoe. Matt then said they were meant to be together, and they were meant to be a trio. Jeff put a Hardys necklace around Mark’s neck. Matt called Mark “one of us”, and anyone who wanted to face them would get beat up by The Brethren.
