Hangman Page: Wins And Losses Don’t Matter When Connecting With Fans

Hangman Page talks wins and losses.

It’s no secret that All Elite Wrestling will have an emphasis on wins and losses when the promotion officially begins on TNT on Oct. 2. Jim Ross has already begun pushing the narrative during the recent AEW Fyter Fest and Fight For The Fallen events. While wins and losses will matter in AEW, they won’t be everything according to “Hangman” Adam Page.

Appearing on Busted Open Radio, Page was asked if he could still “get over” even if he loses to Chris Jericho in the main event of All Out.

“Yeah, I think so. My plan from the beginning has been to be the first champion, but I think [I can get over in a loss],” said Page. “People want to watch and have characters that they can follow their character’s stories for a long time and relate to them in some type of way. I don’t think someone has to win every single match to create a connection with the fans. My career is a testament to that. I’m pretty sure I had a piss poor [win-loss] record, even in Ring of Honor. I don’t think that’s the thing that necessarily gives you a connection with the fans.”

Page continued, “Yes [wins and losses matter]. I guess that sounds contradictory to what I was just saying. I think they matter in the confines of, if you lose this match, where do you go in terms of position of the card. But in connecting with fans, I don’t think [wins and losses] necessarily matter in that way.”

Page has a chance to “get over” in a big way when he meets Chris Jericho for the vacant AEW World Title at All Out on Aug. 31.
