GUNTHER Retains Intercontinental Title, The Elite Retains Trios Titles, More | WWE SD x AEW Recap

Here is your fight size update for WWE Friday Night SmackDown and AEW Rampage on Friday, February 17.

WWE SmackDown

– GUNTHER successfully retained the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Madcap Moss, continuing his Intercontinental Championship run, which is the longest run with the title in the 21st century.

– Sami Zayn returned home to Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Zayn brought back his old theme song for the night and received an overwhelming ovation from his hometown crowd. Tomorrow night, he will try to dethrone Roman Reigns and become the new Undisputed WWE Universal Champion at WWE Elimination Chamber.

– Natalya, who was on the losing end of a tag team match as she and Shotzi failed to defeat Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler, also spoke about her relationship with Canada and how she’s feeling heading into the WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view.

– Uncle Howdy and Bray Wyatt seem to be on the same page now, and they are setting their sights on Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley.

– Asuka defeated Liv Morgan. Afterward, all hell broke loose, featuring the six women competing in the WWE Elimination Chamber.

– There was no sign of The Bloodline because as Roman Reigns requested, Jimmy and Jey Uso were watching from home.

– Drew McIntyre and Sheamus defeated The Viking Raiders tonight. Now, these former World Champions must find their way on the Road to WrestleMania

– There will be a press conference following the WWE Elimination Chamber event. 

– Ariel Helwani was on SmackDown and Tony Khan put out a tweet comparing the journalism skills of Helwani to those of Tony Schiavone

AEW Rampage

– AEW All-Atlantic Champion Orange Cassidy was interviewed backstage by Mark Henry, but was immediately confronted by ROH Pure Champion Wheeler Yuta. Yuta is the bully now, or so he says.

– Jade Cargill is still undefeated. She squashed Vert Vixen tonight.

– Evil Uno is ready for Jon Moxley on AEW Dynamite:

– The Gunns stand atop the tag team division ahead of AEW Revolution.

– Keith Lee returned tonight, saving Dustin Rhodes from an attack by Swerve Strickland and Parker Boudreaux.
