Gunther shares his thoughts on potentially facing Chad Gable and other opponents at WrestleMania 40.
In the fall of 2023, Gunther and Chad Gable clashed on multiple occasions, as the powerhouse defended the WWE Intercontinental Championship against the fan-favorite. Gunther emerged victorious, but their battles left the fans hungry for more. With WrestleMania 40 rapidly approaching, some fans have been hoping to see Gable gain momentum and earn another shot at Gunther.
Speaking with Battle on the Battleground Podcast, Gunther was asked about Chad Gable’s desire to finish the story and take the WWE Intercontinental Championship from him.
“I honestly gotta say, he’s not the only one, I guess. That’s just the life of a champion. A bunch of guys want a piece of them. That being said, I think he’s a phenomenal athlete. He’s a great technician, and the matches we had I think we were phenomenal, and the audience enjoyed them all. So if it should come to that, for WrestleMania, then yeah, I’m here for it. But we have to see. I think there’s a few options in the pipeline. I don’t know what’s in store for ‘Mania. But like I said, I think there’s a bunch of guys. That’s just the life of a champion. You are chased by some people that want that prize, and it keeps me on edge,” Gunther said.
Gunther successfully defended the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Jey Uso on the February 19 episode of WWE Raw. Elsewhere on the show, Chad Gable defeated Ivar.
In a recent interview, Gunther noted that his dream match with Brock Lesnar may be unlikely now. Check out his comments here.
