Gunther explains why he always wanted to enter the Royal Rumble match at number one.
At the 2023 Royal Rumble, Gunther would enter the match for the first time. He woud end up running wire to wire at the event, entering the match at number one. In the end, Cody Rhodes would throw Gunther over the top rope to win the match.
While speaking on WWE Playback while watching back his performance in the match, Gunther remarked that he always wanted to enter at number one if he competed in a Royal Rumble match.
“See that if I have to say, I always said if I’m ever participating in a Royal Rumble match, I want to be in at number one. Because if you come in as thirty, and you win it, it’s basically a present. The number one really has to earn it. I think it’s a very accurate entrance for a person for my stature.” he said.
Gunther will once again enter the men’s Royal Rumble match this Saturday (not Sunday). On the January 22nd edition of Monday Night RAW, Gunther would confront Seth Rollins and assure him that he will win the Royal Rumble match and choose him at WrestleMania. You can read more here.
