Great Muta, Alongside Sting And Darby Allin, Victorious In Final Bout

Great Muta’s career comes to an end.

The Great Muta went out a winner on January 22 at his retirement show for Pro Wrestling NOAH. Muta teamed with Sting & Darby Allin to defeat AKIRA, Hakushi & Naomichi Marufuji.

The closing stretch saw Hakushi drink his own blood before Muta blinded him with green mist followed by a shining wizard. AKIRA & Marufuji made the save, but Sting & Allin cleaned up. Sting hit a scorpion death drop, Allin hit a coffin drop on Hakushi and Muta closed the show with another shining wizard Hakushi.

After the bout, Muta attack Hakushi’s ringside monk and then stabbed Hakushi with the grave marker before signing his name in blood. He used the marker earlier in the bout to stab Hakushi in the head, cutting him open.

The Great Muta is the alter ego of Keiji Muto. Muto will have his retirement match on February 21 against Tetsuya Naito.

Muto first appeared as Muta in 1989 for the National Wrestling Alliance before bringing the character to Japan. He had famous matches in America against the likes of Sting and Ric Flair.

Under the Muta alter ego, Muto would win the AJPW World Tag Team Titles, AJPW Triple Crown Title, WCW World Tag Team Titles, NWA World Heavyweight Title, IWGP Heavyeight Title, and the NWA World Television Title.
