Goldberg: The Talent Leading The Charge In Wrestling Are Doing A Good Job, They’re Just Not Deep
Goldberg weighs in on the current state of pro wrestling.
By many metrics, WWE is doing some of its best business ever with ratings increasing, tickets moving, and merchandise selling. AEW has become a viable second option with three shows on a national network. While many fans and some talent have commented that wrestling is experiencing a new boom, Goldberg hasn’t completely bought in.
Appearing on the Chicago Sports Podcast, Goldberg was asked for his thoughts on wrestling today compared to his time during the Monday Night Wars.
“The internal storylines, I don’t think, are better. The characters, I surely know aren’t better. The guys that are doing their thing right now and leading the charge, they’re doing a damn good job, they’re just not deep. That’s all. They just aren’t deep. It’s hard to have a couple different people carrying the flag and be able to hand it off to a proper person and keep…I’m trying to keep this as vanilla as possible. It’s tough to have the depth. I think they’re lacking in that area. That’s all. Period, end of story. I don’t like getting into it, I don’t like people talking shit,” stated Goldberg.
Goldberg hasn’t wrestled since WWE Elimination Chamber 2022 when he lost to Roman Reigns.
It is unknown if he will return to the ring. He’s currently focused on his cars and garage.
