Goldberg: Appearing on WWE TV With My Son Was A Dream Come True, It Meant Everything To Me

Goldberg says appearing on WWE TV with his son was a dream come true.

The former Universal Champion has interracted with his son, Gage, multiple times on WWE programming since he returned to the company in 2016. Gage was memorably part of Goldberg’s feud with Bobby Lashley in 2021; in one highlight, the reigning WWE Champion put him in the Hurt Lock.

Speaking on the September 28 episode of WWE’s The Bump, the WWE Hall of Famer discussed what appearing on WWE programming alongside his son meant to him. He got emotional while he emphasized how special it is to him.

“As I sit here and watch this, I get kind of emotional. Goldberg’s like an untouchable being, but I definitely have a soft spot in my heart. That boy means everything to my wife and I, and he was the reason why I came back after 15 years, completely the reason. There’s no doubt about it. Everybody knows that. For Vince McMahon and the WWE to allow me to include my son throughout that process, that’s something I can never thank them enough for, truly. As a father, forget Goldberg as a wrestler. As a a father, that’s like a dream come true,” Goldberg said.

The legend continued, noting that the footage of himself and Gage on WWE TV is the coolest thing he could have as a father. He also stated that he’s still the Goldberg everyone knows, but he does have a heart.

“That’s absolutely the coolest thing you could ever have, whether it’s the video of him coming in the ring with me the first time, whether it’s the video of him getting choked out by Lashley, whether it’s the A&E documentary they do, I now have pieces of history that I can save forever with my son and I together. It’s just the coolest thing as a father that you could ever have. Not to get emotional and go completely away from the character, I mean that meant everything to me, it really did. It gave me the ability to work tirelessly when I’ve got a very short window of opportunity to get back in the ring, and to make it plausible. So I’ve shown emotion and I’ve used words that you’ve never heard come out of Goldberg’s mouth. Doesn’t mean I’m mortal, it just means I’ve got a heart,” he said.

In the same interview, Goldberg noted that he doesn’t have any matches left on his deal, but he can think of one way to dethrone Roman Reigns. You can check out his comments here.
