AEW Rampage

– Giannis Antetokounmpo was front row for AEW Rampage. In the first match of the night, the NBA Champion saw the Lucha Bros defeat Jurassic Express in the finals of the AEW World Tag Team Title Eliminator Tournament. Lucha Bros will face The Young Bucks in a steel cage at All Out with the belts on the line.

– Miro dragged Fuego Del Sol to the ring and unmasked the recently signed luchador. Eddie Kingston came out and brawled with the TNT Champion. Multiple officials were needed to keep them separated. Later in the show, it was announced that The Mad King will challenge The Redeemer for his belt at All Out.

– The Bunny was able to defeat Tay Conti thanks to some interference from Penelope Ford and brass knuckles from The Blade.

Kenny Omega abandoned Brandon Cutler, allowing Christian Cage to hit a Spear and Killswitch to pick up the win for himself and Frankie Kazarian. Cage is set to face Omega for the AEW Championship on Sunday, September 5 at AEW All Out.

CM Punk joined Christian Cage and Frankie Kazarian in the ring after AEW Rampage went off the air. Take a listen to what they said:

WWE SmackDown

Kevin Owens filled in for Pat McAfee on commentary tonight as the SmackDown announcer is out with COVID.

Becky Lynch kicked off SmackDown and says that she has been preparing for her comeback since the day she stepped away. Building on that, she has no regrets about her return. She was then interrupted by Bianca Belair, who asked for a championship rematch later in the night. The Man declined, saying “another time.”

A 4-Way Elimination Match was then made between Belair, Carmella, Zelina Vega, and Liv Morgan. The winner would earn a future title match against Lynch. After Carmella and Vega were eliminated early, Belair and Morgan would trade chances, with The EST of WWE winning after hitting the Kiss of Death.

– The Usos are skeptical as to whether or not Paul Heyman knew Brock Lesnar would show up and confront Roman Reigns at SummerSlam. Although things would appear to be fine with The Tribal Chief later on, Jimmy and Jey didn’t initially let Heyman into The Bloodline’s locker room.

– Cesaro defeated Chad Gable via disqualification after he was attacked by Otis. The Academy members would beat up the Swiss Superman with Otis punctuating the segment with a second-rope splash.

– After winning a ton of money in Las Vegas, Happy Corbin showed off his wealth by trying to buy the Money in the Bank briefcase from Big E. The New Day member could not be swayed, though.

– Edge has his sights set on the Universal Title, while Seth Rollins contemplates being a bit more like Edge in order to get back in the championship picture.

– Rick Boogs and Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode.

– Naomi revealed that she is the newest member of the SmackDown roster, a fact that Sonya Deville was unaware of. When asking who her first opponent would be, Naomi was dismissed by the WWE Official. Backstage, Naomi says that she has nothing to prove and that the reception from the crowd will remind everyone in the back of who she is and why she should be treated better.

– Sami Zayn defeated Dominik Mysterio with a Helluva Kick on SmackDown. After the match, Rey came out to check on his son, but Dominik was visibly frustrated and was shooing his dad away.

Speaking after the match, Sami Zayn says he will soon reveal his whereabouts the past four weeks, an anecdote which he describes as “juicy.”

Finn Balor interrupted The Bloodline and challenged Roman Reigns to a Universal Title match next week. Before any answers were given, he attacked Reigns and would eventually get some help fending off The Usos from The Street Profits. It was later confirmed that Balor will face Reigns on September 3 for the Universal Championship.
