Gallows & Anderson Improvised All Their Stuff For Southpaw Regional Wrestling

For Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, working on "Southpaw Regional Wrestling" was a refreshing change due to its unscripted nature.

The Club discussed Southpaw, among other things, recently during an interview on the Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast.

Southpaw Regional Wrestling was a four-episode mockumentary of a Southern federation from the territorial days that was released on WWE's YouTube channel. It featured a variety of WWE stars, including Gallows as "Tex Ferguson" and Anderson as "Chad 2 Badd."

"I think we knew Southpaw was going to be good because there [were] no scripts, man," Anderson said on the podcast. "I think we’re better off the fly, anyway.”

Gallows' character was a take-off on "Sex Ferguson", a fictional character he portrayed on Colt Cabana's "Wrestling Road Diaries" series prior to returning to WWE last year.

"I would like to think that they saw my Sex Ferguson stuff on YouTube and that’s where it came from, but I don’t know," Gallows said regarding the concept for Southpaw. "They came up to us like a month or two into being here and started talking about this and I was like, ‘Hold up – this is right up my alley. We have to do this!’ And then, it took a long time to actually do it.

The Club also noted that WWE Hall of Famer Steve Austin had called them to praise their work on the show.

"He put it over to the moon," said Anderson, who played "Chad 2 Badd" on Southpaw. "Stone Cold called us, by the way, and he text messages us some deer pics, too.”

The Club will be in action this Sunday on the Payback kick-off show, taking on Enzo Amore and Big Cass in tag action. Follow that match and all the action from Payback right here at Fightful.com, where we will have live results and discussion.
