Gail Kim Says If Being An Agent For IMPACT Wasn’t So Fulfilling, She’d Still Be Wrestling
Gail Kim opens up about the adrenaline rush she receives by agenting matches for IMPACT Wrestling.
Gail Kim is the only woman inducted into the IMPACT Wrestling Hall of Fame. Through the years, her work in the Knockouts division helped shape the modern landscape of women’s wrestling and showed that women’s wrestling could be presented just as seriously as men’s wrestling.
Now, Gail is a backstage producer for IMPACT Wrestling and even though she says she has had some experience as an agent for men’s matches, her heart is with the Knockouts division that she helped cultivate.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Gail provided insight on the kind of feedback she gives as an agent and how the rush of seeing a match that she has helped put together is similar to that of competing in your own match.
“I try to give a little bit of both [life and wrestling advice], if I can or if they’re comfortable with that. I am always there for them no matter what. Wrestling-wise, I think all of them know my personality now. I am very direct, I don’t like to beat around the bush, and we don’t have time to waste. I think they know that when I come at them in a very direct way, I’m just trying to help them. I love it. I feel like I’m very hands-on with the women. I have agented some of the guys’ matches, too, here and there, and I, of course, love producing in passing on knowledge in any way for male or female [talent], but my heart is with the women, I can’t lie about that. I’m very invested in that division, it’s like my baby in a lot of ways and when they knock it out of the park, my adrenaline is just as high as theirs is and I’m just so grateful that I get that feeling just watching them wrestle and accomplishing what we try to do together. It’s a great feeling that I can get it. I think if I wasn’t getting that feeling, I would probably be back in the ring because I would miss it too much.”
Recently, IMPACT Wrestling reinstated the Knockouts Tag Team Championship. Gail Kim and Madison Rayne awarded the championship belts to Kiera Hogan and Tasha Steelz following their victory at IMPACT Hard To Kill 2021. Hogan and Tasha will defend the championship on Saturday, March 13 against Jordynne Grace and Jazz at IMPACT Sacrifice. Fightful will have live coverage of the event on March 13.
