Gable Steveson Has Never Heard Of Jake Hager, Believes He Could Take Him Down In Five Seconds

A challenge has been laid down.

Gable Steveson recently captured the gold medal in men’s freestyle wrestling (125kg) at the Tokyo Olympics. Prior to that, he placed first in the 2021 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships (285 lbs).

Steveson has been waving to Vince McMahon and Dana White on Twitter since winning the gold and has made no secret of his desire to compete in WWE at some point in his career.

AEW star Jake Hager took to Twitter on August 12, willing to bet $20,000 that the Olympian couldn’t take him down. This led to a back and forth between the two men. Here is what they had to say:

Hager was a 2006 Collegiate All-American and holds the University of Oklahoma’s single-season record for most pins in the 285 pounds (129 kg) weight class. He is also undefeated in his MMA career with Bellator.

While Steveson’s future remains up in the air, Hager can be seen on AEW programming as a member of The Inner Circle alongside Chris Jericho.
