FTR Say They Only Have A Handshake Deal With AEW, Believes Tony Khan Has Full Trust In Them
FTR (formerly The Revival in WWE) made a surprise appearance on the May 27 episode of Dynamite, taking out The Butcher & The Blade while confronting The Young Bucks.
Their appearance had been teased on Being The Elite with The Young Bucks making references to FTR and the feud between the two dates back years when Cody first dropped a “Fuck The Revival” on Being The Elite.
Despite appearing on AEW television, FTR say they are not under a long-term commitment with AEW.
“We have a short-term, almost handshake deal, because they want to get this match done since it’s been talked about for so many years. We’re not under any long-term obligation to anybody,” said Cash Wheeler on the Jim Cornette Experience.
Dax Harwood added, “Tony [Khan] has been great to us. He’s got full trust in us, which is probably why he’s allowing us to appear on a handshake deal. He’s a huge fan of the wrestling business, more important to us and our pocketbooks, he’s a fan of ours because he loved the Mid-South stuff. He really believes we’re guys that can get over. During the pandemic, he wants us to get the match with the Bucks and wants to be the guy to get that match. We’re not against signing with Tony but there are so many guys we want to test our skills against. I don’t think he’d be too happy with us if we had signed a contract and then came on your show.
FTR has told AEW and The Young Bucks that they are willing to work together, but said things might get ugly in the ring based on past comments made by the Bucks. Cash said, “[Tony Khan] seems excited about the possibility that things can get ugly.”
It is unknown when FTR and the Young Bucks will eventually meet in the ring. Harwood & Wheeler are set to make their AEW in-ring deal this Wednesday on Dynamite when they face The Butcher & The Blade.
