FTR Didn’t Want To Spam Owen Hart And Bret Hart Moves, But Did Want To Pay Tribute

On the April 27 episode of AEW Dynamite, Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler met for the first time in singles competition.

The reigning ROH and AAA Tag Team Champions pushed to face each other as part of the Owen Hart Tournament and, given the importance of the tournament and their love of Bret Hart, wanted to pay tribute to Owen and Bret.

Many fans noticed the tributes to Owen and Bret, but according to FTR, they didn’t want to overdo things.

“That’s one thing we wanted to do, was to not overdo it,” Cash said on Busted Open Radio. “If you look back at it, the only two things we really did was, I teased the foot scrape like Owen did to Bret, that was directly an homage to that match, and the victory roll reversal. Everything after that, he missed the diving headbutt, he took the sternum buckle, but we didn’t want to spam it with taking stuff from them, but we did want to pay respects to the fact that it is the Owen Hart tournament and we took a lot of pride in that.”

Cash also noted that they didn’t want to spam moves for a cheap reaction and Dax said they didn’t want to shake hands before the match because fans were expecting it.

Dax was victorious in the bout, officially entering him in the Owen Hart Tournament.
