Frankie Kazarian Wanted To Make The ‘Suicide’ Character TNA Wrestling’s Version Of ‘Tiger Mask’
Frankie Kazarian divulges his original ideas for the character of Suicide in TNA Wrestling.
Suicide, the masked former X-Division Champion of TNA Wrestling, had a unique introduction to the world of Wrestling. Originally the character was created as a costume creation for the TNA Wrestling video game that was released in 2008.
Suicide was the main character of the story mode which would see players take control of this character who had been cheated out of glory by Jeff Jarrett and players would guide this character En route to getting him back to TNA Wrestling and eventually capturing the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.
On television, the character has had many individuals behind the mask. Among those that have played Suicide on TV, Frankie Kazarian was the original name chosen for the character. At times, the character would also be played by Christopher Daniels, and in more recent years, the character has been played by Kaleb and TJP.
Speaking on the Wrestling Perspective podcast, Frankie Kazarian opened up about what it was like to originally played the character and envisioning this character being TNA Wrestling’s own version of Tiger Mask from New Japan Pro-Wrestling
“Yeah, I was the original [Suicide]. If you look at the early pictures, there is a way to tell which one is me and which one is Chris Daniels. But I’m not going to give that secret up [laughs]. There’s an interesting way to tell. I had a lot of ideas for that character, we both did, that I thought would make it really cool. I wanted to make Suicide like TNA’s version of Tiger Mask and have it be a legacy character but those that were in charge at the time at TNA didn’t share that creative vision. The character ultimately kind of — it’s back now, I guess, but it dies, it comes back, it dies, it comes back.”
Nowadays, Frankie Kazarian is a member of the All Elite Wrestling roster and Suicide still pops up when needed in TNA Wrestling.
Elsewhere in the interview, Frankie Kazarian spoke about advice that he and Christopher Daniels have given Scorpio Sky. Read more here.
