Fox CEO Charlie Collier Says SmackDown On Friday Is “Short Term;” Discusses WWE Content on FS1

CEO Charlie Collier discusses WWE’s upcoming move to Fox.

During today’s Television Critics Association press tour, Fox CEO Charlie Collier was asked about WWE SmackDown moving to the Network beginning in October. Collier confirmed that SmackDown will remain live on Friday nights and stated that Friday will be “short term” for WWE.

“It’s live, and what’s remarkable [is] these are people that know their audience,” said Collier. “They’re great storytellers and I think it fits beautifully with what we’re doing.”

Collier also stated that FS1 will have WWE programming on its network but did not provide further details.

“The Fox sports networks, FS1, and others, will have some other wrestling–not live Smackdown, not Raw, but other ties to the WWE world,” he explained

SmackDown is set to premiere on Fox on Oct. 4, 2019. WWE and Fox agreed to a five-year deal in May 2018 worth a reported $1 billion.
