Former WWE And WCW Referee Mickey Jay Passes Away

Fightful is sad to report that former WWE and WCW referee Mickey Jay (Mickie Henson) has passed away. He was 59.

Mickie battled cancer for nearly 15 years and was taken off life support with COVID-related pneumonia being reported as the cause.

Jay got his start in the business in 1987 under Dusty Rhodes and Steve Kerin. He would go on to be a referee in WCW before joining WWE when they purchased WCW in 2001. He left the company in 2009 after he was diagnosed with Mantel cell lymphoma.

He famously served as the referee for the bout between Mick Foley and Edge at WrestleMania 22.

Fightful would like to send our condolences to the family, friends, and fans of Mickie Jay.
