Finn Balor Thinks That A Money In The Bank Win Is More Beneficial Than A Royal Rumble Match Victory
Finn also weighs in on a possible NXT Money In The Bank Ladder match.
This upcoming Sunday at the ‘Money In The Bank’ PPV Finn Balor will be stepping into the ring with Braun Strowman, Samoa Joe, one member of the New Day, Bobby Roode, Kevin Owens, The Miz, Samoa Joe, and Rusev. Those eight men will be competing in a Money In The Bank Ladder match in hopes of securing themselves a future shot at their brand’s respective championship at their leisure.
Prior to the star-studded bout the first-ever WWE Universal Champion Finn Balor called in to DC 101 to speak with Mike Jones. During their discussion Balor was asked if he believes that winning Money In The Bank is more beneficial and more significant than winning a Royal Rumble match and Finn answered with the following:
“Well when I think historically, Royal Rumble has such an aura to it, and obviously the bragging rights [with] winning the Royal Rumble are huge. But I think the implication of the Money In The Bank contract, the fact that you can cash it in at any point and surprise the champion, you know that really makes… turns the tide in the favor of the person who has that briefcase opposed to the champion because you know when you’re going to cash-in but the champion does not so, you know, I think if you’re looking to win that title, its the Money In The Bank briefcase that you want as opposed to the Royal Rumble win.” Balor said.
Finn Balor has competed in Ladder matches before. Most recently he partook in the WWE Intercontinental Championship Fatal 4-Way Ladder match at the ‘Greatest Royal Rumble’ event and he also competed at the first NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn in a Ladder match where he retained his NXT Championship by defeating Kevin Owens. Finn Balor has a special place in his heart for NXT and he thinks that it will not be too long before the yellow-and-black brand has their own Money In The Bank match.
“Oh absolutely. You know, NXT is something that’s very close to my heart. [I] spent some of my fondest years there in the industry, and you know [it’s] something that I keep my eye on still as they’re taking things to the next level, and since I’ve left there Velveteen Dream has done amazing, Adam Cole is one to watch as well, he’s done incredible stuff down there.” Finn said. “So, Money In The Bank in NXT would be a very cool idea.”
