Finn Balor: I’m Hopeful To Return To Raw Or SmackDown
After losing to ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt at SummerSlam 2019, Balor returned to NXT and made an immediate impact on the brand.
Balor has been a focal point of the program since his return in October 2019 and recaptured the NXT Championship in September 2020.
Though Balor has rediscovered himself on the gold brand, he still has hopes of returning to the main roster at some point in his career.
“Absolutely,” Balor replied when asked by Ryan Satin on Out of Character if he would like to go back to the main roster. “I grew up as a wrestling fan watching WWE and that’s essentially where I want to be performing. I feel like in my last run, I wasn’t doing myself justice and I needed to change something. I needed to go to NXT and figure out who I was again. I managed to do that and I’m hopeful to return to Raw or SmackDown in the future to wrestle guys like Bray Wyatt, Braun Strowman, Roman Reigns, AJ Styles. All these guys that I have a past with but I also hope to have a future with.”
Balor’s run on the main roster started off hot when he was drafted to Raw in July 2016 as he became the first-ever Universal Champion, but a shoulder injury ended his reign in less than 24 hours and he never quite got back to the top of the mountain.
Balor has a chance to reclaim his throne in NXT on Tuesday when he challenges Karrion Kross for NXT Championship.
