Finn Balor: I Can Guarantee You I Will Not Say ‘I Quit’ Against Edge

Finn Balor talks about his upcoming match against Edge, losing hope that the match would ever take place, and dream matches he foresees for himself in the future.

Finn Balor will take on Edge for the first time in a one-on-one encounter at WWE Extreme Rules. They will not have any normal match, however. Instead, they will be having an ‘I Quit’ match. With Edge having retired back in 2011, Finn Balor never thought this match would come. But now that it’s here, Finn Balor is ready and he will not give up under any circumstances.

I’m very excited,” he told Josh Martinez on Superstar Crossover.Obviously, from a personal standpoint, I’d given up the idea of ever sharing a ring with Edge a long time ago, when he retired 11 years ago. You kind of lose the spark of hope that was reignited when he returned at Royal Rumble a couple of years ago. Even then, that was something that — I wasn’t fully convinced that we were ever going to get an opportunity to stand in the ring with Edge. But, the match is here, it’s advertised. So it’s definitely gonna happen. Nothing’s really gonna change unless there’s some cataclysmic global event. I’m excited. I’m focused. I’m ready and I can guarantee you I will not say ‘I quit.'”

As for other dream matches down the line, Finn Balor wants to revisit matches he’s already had with the likes of Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns, and AJ Styles.

“I’d love to revisit a couple of matches that I’ve had already. AJ Styles and I have only wrestled once in a singles match and that’s something that I would love to revisit. Brock Lesnar is another one that I’ve only wrestled once, and I would love to revisit as well. The third one would be Roman Reigns, who I feel, I’ve had quite a lot of interactions with, there’s certainly some unfinished business there. That’s someone who, you know, has just far exceeded anyone’s expectations in the ring and outside of the ring over the last couple of years and is a consummate professional. Someone that I feel has the respect of the locker room but obviously, he has the attention of the locker room, too, you know? Everyone wants to be in there with him. So that’s definitely top of the list,” he said.

Last year, Roman Reigns defeated Finn Balor, and this year, Finn Balor looks to take out a Hall of Famer en route to maybe getting another shot at Roman Reigns. We will have full coverage of WWE Extreme Rules beginning tonight at 8 p.m. eastern time.
