Fightful Wrestling Weekly 9/6: Killer Kross Drama, Allysin Kay, AEW, Starrcast, WWE News

Allysin Kay

We had the former Sienna, now again Allysin Kay in the studio for a great interview. She told us that she wanted to go by her real name all the time now, and that she often gets hate messages from little girls about the Sienna name, fans of Sienna Miller, and stuff about vans and horses. Bloodsport had promoted her as Sienna, but she requested the change and was granted it. She doesn’t own the Sienna moniker, but is able to use it.

On the NWA, she said that Dave Lagana got her into both the NWA and Impact Wrestling. Her introduction to the company was to come by facing Jazz, which she still wants to happen. She and Billy Corgan both favored making the switch to the older version of the NWA World Women’s Championship, and she clarified and said that the rumors of Jazz not returning the other title belt in time were flat out untrue. She didn’t have a ton of insight on the upcoming tapings, but is excited to compete in a studio format again.

She spoke about her introduction to Bloodsport, and said it was something that she’s wanted to do for a while. When she publicly spoke about it, she wasn’t even expecting another one to happen, so she was surprised when the call came.

She remains on good terms with WWE and Impact, and said that she got so much positive feedback on her WWE Mae Young Classic appearances that she thought she was being lied to. Even though no bridges are burned with Impact, she noted that things changed way too often in her first five months in the company.

AEW All Out

– As Casey of Squared Circle Sirens mentioned on Twitter this week, there was an altercation backstage at AEW All Out between Sadie Gibbs and Bea Priestly. Matt Jackson was seen trying to smooth things over and talking to Sadie Gibbs about the situation.

– Brandon Cutler was also seen backstage helping out at AEW All Out, which is a typical part of his duties with the company now.

– Earl Hebner had a little bit of an incident ahead of the Cody vs. Shawn Spears match, as a fan started going at him in the front row.

– It’s pretty well known by now, but Sinclair owns the broadcast footage for All In. Based on sources we’ve spoken to, All Elite Wrestling has made an effort to gain the footage, and has been acquiring fan footage for the last several months. The pay-per-view buys are actually still trickling in for All In for FITE TV.

Chris Jericho either had a title belt stolen or misplaced it at the airport, as Tallahassee PD confirmed to Fightful.com. The case is still open, but no other details are available, besides that the title was eventually recovered.

Starrcast

CM Punk was received well by everyone in the green room after his stage show. The show itself went way over the planned time, but it didn’t seem to bother Punk, at least if his behavior afterwards was any indication. We were told that he was very friendly and cordial, and went out of his way to greet everyone.

– We ran into Effy ahead of his GCW match with Nick Gage. He was visibly tired and contemplating his life choices at that point. He’d go on to have a breakout performance to many at the GCW/Black Label Pro show.

– Mick Foley was pitched a spot for the MJF stage show, but wasn’t sure how they’d get out of it without one of them looking bad.

– Starrcast still has a ton of stuff and promotional materials for the canceled Ric Flair Roast from earlier this year.

– We’re told Flip Gordon tried to get clearance to come to Starrcast via a third party booking that ended up getting rejected by ROH. They aren’t permitting any talent to appear at the convention, and didn’t at the second Starrcast, either.

– MJF refused to let a fan wearing a Chris Benoit Club t-shirt on the screen on FITE TV during his show, a move that was applauded by FITE’s Mike Weber.

– The Starrcast commercial featuring Cody, Christopher Daniels, Kazarian and Scorpio Sky was filmed on Sunday in front of the Hyatt Regency.

– We’re told Starrcast IV will not be as expansive as previous versions.

WWE

– Jessamyn Duke should be cleared and back in action soon after dealing with a minor neck issue.

– We’re told a lot of the upcoming live events are to get reps in for NXT talent ahead of the USA Network debut.

– WWE have already started contacting names for their podcast network, including some former writers, talent, and others.

Killer Kross

Things are getting insane between Killer Kross and IMPACT.

Impact asked Killer Kross to blade at Slammiversary, and even though he didn’t have a problem losing his match to Eddie Edwards, he insisted on fake blood. The reason being, IMPACT had no doctor on site and no previous blood testing, which posed a major risk.

Kross’ name was also brought up when Fightful inquired about IMPACT paying for hotel rooms, because he’s one of several wrestlers who claim they’ve not been paid their quarterly merchandise payments in full. I should note that’s not across the board, but a lot of wrestlers brought it up.

Perhaps the most concerning issue came when Fightful was told that Kross was being held off the upcoming AAA show, despite him working there for years. IMPACT Wrestling’s Ed Nordholm is allowing AAA to use their promoter’s license and other amenities and supposedly made the request as Kross is speaking with the company via an attorney. Kross has not been set for any additional dates, ultimately an independent contractor who relies on Impact for bookings, and he’s not getting any.

Several wrestlers told us their IMPACT contracts had provisions that prevented them from disparaging the company, and also prevented them from explaining the details of their deals.
