Exclusive: Triple H Tells Fightful He Won’t Rule Out NXT Competing For Women’s Tag Team Titles

With Women’s Tag Team Titles announced for WWE, there are still plenty of questions.

Several teams from both Raw and Smackdown will compete in February for the first set of tag titles, which leads many to wonder where the line is drawn as far as eligible brands who can vie for the championships. When Fightful spoke to Triple H this week, he opened up about the possibility of NXT or NXT UK being included.

“I think there’s been discussions about all of that, but as far as it ends up, I’m not 100 percent sure where that will net out. The goal is to deliver the best thing they can for the women’s division. When I look at Raw and Smackdown, there’s a lot of talent where once they have a goal and women get together and get on the same page in a tag style, you’re going to see a lot of people excel. That is very exciting. You have to play that by ear where that goes. Is it multi-branded, is it floating? Time will tell,” said Triple H.

The first title holders will be determined in an Elimination Chamber match next month, which will be only the second tag team edition ever. The first was back in 2015, when New Day retained their tag titles.

WWE Elimination Chamber takes place February 17, 2019 from Houston, Texas at the Toyota Center. Fightful will have full, live coverage of the event and a post-show podcast. You can hear the full NXT Takeover: Phoenix Media Call above.
