Exclusive: Triple H On Stokely Hathaway: Obviously He Made An Impression, Or He Wouldn’t Be Here
Could we see the next wave of great managers in WWE?
WWE announced the signing of indie sensation manager Stokely Hathaway several weeks ago, complete with him training at the Florida Performance Center. With Lio Rush and Drake Maverick in managerial roles on the WWE main roster, it appears the next batch of wrestling managers have hit the company. During a recent NXT media call, Triple H spoke to Fightful about the hiring of Hathaway.
“He obviously made an impression, or he wouldn’t be here,” said Triple H to Fightful. “As the business changes and evolves, you see different talent come in and out. There’s been chatter for a long time about managers and I think things are cyclical. I think the ability to have management or mouth pieces — however you want to say it — when you start to talk about international talent, you bring in a talent who doesn’t speak English and you bring them into the US, the language is important. To perform and talk people into seats and promote is important. Not everybody can do that. Not everybody can learn that skill. Learning a second language isn’t easy. We do that with a lot of our talent, whether they’re learning to speak a second language or vice-versa. Having people like a Stokely or Robbie (Strauss), they can do more and bring a lot of value to the table besides being a mouth piece for a person.”
Hathaway made his WWE NXT debut recently, under the name of Court Moore, where he would help lead Babatunde to victory over another new signing in Nick Comoroto.
