Exclusive: Britt Baker Reveals Why She Hasn’t Worked For IMPACT, Talks All In Match, ROH & Performance Center
You’ve probably seen Britt Baker all over the place — but not Impact Wrestling.
The 27-year old Baker had appeared on Ring of Honor television numerous times, wrestled Shayna Baszler on NXT TV, Nia Jax on WWE Raw, and was a part of the women’s four-way battle at All In. However, despite IMPACT Wrestling (formerly TNA) dipping deep into the independent talent pool and running all-women’s cards, Baker never appeared for the company.
“I was contacted, I can’t remember what One Night Only show it was. I had also talked to them about some longer term stuff, but it was when I was in school. It’s when their tapings were in Orlando and you come down for the whole week. At that point, missing a whole week of school and classes wasn’t realistic. I wouldn’t say that I’ve completely shut the door on IMPACT. They’ve got fantastic talent there. They signed Jordynne Grace. Taya, Tessie, Allie. I would never say never with Impact,” said Baker.
Baker has, however, appeared for Ring of Honor numerous times. From a top contender spot at Survival of the Fittest in 2018, to several matches that were filmed for Ring of Honor’s Youtube — she’s happy that she’s getting the experience and exposure on their brand.
“I like the opportunities with Women of Honor. I don’t have anything concrete with storyline there, but it’s such an awesome platform. The Ring of Honor fans are some of the best in the world, and there’s some great girls there. I’m not signed, I’m not signed anywhere. The only place I’m signed is to a one-year dental contract. It’s been fun. I’ve really been playing up the independent card,” said Baker.
After mentioning the fact that she’s locked down under a dental contract, Baker said that she would face some difficult life choices if offered a deal to join many of her friends at the WWE Performance Center.
“In WWE, it’s more that you’re at the Performance Center. I know that because I’m near and dear to someone who reports there everyday (boyfriend Adam Cole). I’m not sure how that would work, I’m cant imagine they would be okay with me being a dentist full-time when reporting to the Performance Center. There are only so many hours in the day. It’s a discussion that would have to be made and a lot of hard decisions would have to be made,” Baker said.
Despite not being signed by WWE and not appearing for IMPACT, Baker has appeared on a global stage. In September, she was a part of a four-way women’s match at All In that featured Chelsea Green, Madison Rayne and Tessa Blanchard. Baker told Fightful that she looks upon the night fondly as a career highlight.
“To date, I don’t know if that will ever be topped. That was one of my favorite nights in general, not just wrestling. That crowd was there just for wrestling and wanted All In to be a success. They weren’t sitting around waiting to boo something. We were so nervous because so many eyes are on us. We were on a card with Kenny Omega, Young Bucks, Cody. Here we are, four girls who had some experience together — I’d never been in the ring with Madison Rayne. It was definitely an experiment on our end, but thankfully it all played out really well and is forever one of my favorite matches,” said Baker.
