Ethan Page Says The Opportunity To Team With Matt Sydal In IMPACT Came Out Of Nowhere
“All Ego” was not expecting to team with Matt Sydal.
“All Ego” Ethan Page re-debuted in IMPACT Wrestling in October heading into the ‘Bound For Glory’ pay-per-view. Once known as “Chandler Park” in IMPACT, Page returned under the name that he is known as on the independent scene and immediately jumped into a program on IMPACT TV. Page aligned himself with former IMPACT X Division Champion Matt Sydal and the two opened Bound For Glory in a tag team bout against Rich Swann and NWA National Heavyweight Champion Willie Mack.
The partnership with Matt Sydal was not originally in the plans for “All Ego” as he revealed during a sit-down interview with Alicia Atout of ‘A Music Blog, Yea?’ and Page discussed how the officials in the company did not have plans to re-debut him at the IMPACT tapings in Mexico but due to another talent suffering an injury, Page filled in and is now opening his “third eye”.
“Yeah, neither did I [think he was teaming with Sydal], and it was kind of an opportunity that presented itself out of nowhere. I wasn’t supposed to be in Mexico. It was a day before thing. Somebody’s injured, they needed to build to this tag match for Bound For Glory – I’m under contract with them and they were like, ‘This isn’t the ideal situation we want to debut him in, but he has his work Visa, he’s ready to work. Okay, lets bring him in’ and I’m like, ‘Alright, well I’ll make the best of the opportunity and try and turn this into a thing and now I have t-shirts available and I’m just going with it and it’s been good.” Page said.
On the most recent edition of IMPACT, Ethan Page was at ringside while his partner Matt Sydal went one-on-one with the IMPACT World Champion Johnny Impact. To catch up on the other happenings that occurred on Thursday’s show, click here.
