Errol Spence Jr. Says He Was A Fan Of The Rock As A Child, Got In Trouble For Talking About ‘Pie’

Boxer Erroll Spence Jr. reflects on his fondness for Triple H and The Rock’s rivalry in WWE.

While Errol Spence Jr. is known for his boxing career, he has also expressed a love for the world of sports entertainment.

During a recent interview with Scoop B Radio’s Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson, Spence revealed that his ultimate dream match is a match that’s happened plenty of times in the past, Triple H vs. The Rock.

“My dream match, it already happened. Especially at that time, Triple H and The Rock were the biggest stars in WWE, and they fought each other. That was something I remember even as a little kid until this day.”

Spence says he was a fan of The Rock when he was younger, and that unknowingly got him in trouble because he would walk around talking about “poontang pie” to mimic “The Great One.”

“I was going for The Rock. He was ‘The People’s Champion.’ He had me getting in trouble, walking around talking about poontang pie. I didn’t know what it meant.”

The Rock and Triple H fought each other numerous times from 1996 until 2002. There were tentative plans for Rock and Hunter to face off again at WrestleMania in 2016, but other plans prevented that.

Fans are still waiting for The Rock to return and potentially face Roman Reigns. Still,  as Paul Heyman has said in the past, that match is simply fantasy until they put pen to paper.

Errol Spence Jr. vs. Terence Crawford in a top welterweight fight takes place on July 29. The fight card will be broadcast on Showtime (via Paramount Plus) with a start time of 8:00 p.m. ET. The main event will approximately begin around 11:00 p.m. ET
