Eric Young Doesn’t Know If He’s To The Point Where He Can Pitch Ideas To WWE

Eric Young is a longtime veteran in the world of wrestling, but he’s only been in WWE since 2016. And while his NXT run as the leader of Sanity brought a reign as NXT Tag Team Champion, his time on Raw and SmackDown have not yielded much success.

Young built a reputation in TNA/IMPACT as being a diverse performer who could pull off multiple roles. But in WWE, he hasn’t had the same opportunity to showcase himself.

“You have to earn the ability to go to them and [pitch ideas],” Young said when asked about the process of getting ideas on television on The Full 60 podcast“I don’t know if I’m to that point in WWE, I feel like when I speak, they’re not in full belief that I can do it. But I have the history and can show them. It’s a very collaborative effort as well. They say, ‘what about this’ and I put my twist on it and they put their twist on it. It’s push and pull. Very early on, I was in Team Canada. Then I was weird and I took it and blew it up to where I was afraid of everything. It’s a collaborative effort and to me, it’s one of my favorite processes to try and deepen a character and make it more interesting.”

Young has been picking up matches on WWE Main Event and when he’s not wrestling, he is doing fantasy hockey work for The Athletic. He recently revealed he’s been in talks with NHL Network about a potential show.
