Eric Young Discusses His Relationship With Vince McMahon And SAnitY’s Lackluster Main Roster Call-Up

Eric Young opens up about his relationship with Vince McMahon and where it all went wrong for SAnitY.

Eric Young debuted in NXT as part of SAnitY and even though you wouldn’t know it by their main roster run, they were a huge part of all of the goings-on on Wednesday nights. Eric Young would even get to participate in the first NXT WarGames match and become one half of the NXT Tag Team Champions.

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Eric Young opens up about SAnitY being called up to Friday Night SmackDown and how he watched his WWE career go from promising to being stuck in limbo.

“We got called up per [Vince McMahon’s] request. He asked for us to come,” Young revealed. “A bunch of stuff happened. It was a [situation of being] victim of circumstance and we ended up in a very weird spot. They sent [Alexander Wolfe and Killian Dain back to NXT] and it was [Vince’s] request for me to move over to Raw and he was going to figure something out for me because, at that point, he still liked me.

He continued, “Somewhere along the line, he didn’t like me and didn’t care for my work and I was lost in obscurity for about a year-and-a-half. That’s tough to deal with after all the work you put in… I can tell you I grinded and I made a lot of sacrifices along the road in twenty years to put myself in that position and build my career to where it was. It was basically thrown away haphazardly [and] that’s hard to deal with.”

Eric Young would return “home” to IMPACT Wrestling at Slammiversary 2020 where he would come up short in the main event World Championship match won by Eddie Edwards.

Elsewhere in the interview, Eric Young would reveal that he was very close with Triple H due to his time in NXT and says “The Game” was the first to call him following his WWE release. Learn more at this link.
