Eric Young Defeats Nick Aldis And Then The Design Attacks, Athena Wins Again | IMPACT x ROH Recap

Here is your fight size update following IMPACT and ROH Wrestling on Thursday, July 27, 2023. 

Below are highlights from both Thursday night wrestling shows.

IMPACT Wrestling

– Eric Young completed IMPACT for the first time in nine months, defeating Nick Aldis, a fellow former IMPACT World Champion and longtime nemesis. After the bell, Eric Young is surprised by his old allies, Deaner and Kon of The Design. Deaner barked orders as Kon lands not one, not two, but three massive Chokeslams on Young. Deaner closed out the show by delivering the Antidote DDT to Young. 

IMPACT Emergence added two matches to the card. 

– Zicky Dice has been forced out of IMPACT Wrestling after losing to Johnny Swinger.

– Dirty Dango says that he hired Alpha Bravo (John E. Bravo) as his personal security guard to keep Scott D’Amore and Santino Marella at bay.

– Jake Something was featured in a vignette.

– Backstage, Traci Brooks chatted with Frankie Kazarian. Brooks informed Kazarian that she wanted to fight Alisha Edwards in a 5-minute bout, but Kazarian talked her out because he didn’t want Brooks to be harmed and that Alisha wasn’t worth it.

–  Following a backstage confrontation last week, Gisele Shaw defeated Masha Slamovich.

– Alan Angels cut a promo backstage calling out Heath. Heath was challenged to a match by Angels to show how much of a rockstar he is.

– In a singles bout, Zachary Wentz blinded “Speedball” Mike Bailey with spray paint while the referee’s back was turned, followed by the Headlock DDT to win.

Ring of Honor 

– Athena turned back yet another challenger in another Proving Ground Match. This time, she defeated Christina Marie.

– The Renegade Twins picked up a tag team win tonight over 

– The Iron Savages (Boulder & Bronson & Jacked Jameson) were beaten by The Mogul Embassy (Bishop Kaun, Brian Cage, & Toa Liona) (w/Prince Nana) in an ROH World Six Man Tag Team Title Match.

– Following many victories in Pure Rules competition, Josh Woods has been slated to face Pure Champion Katsuyori Shibata for the ROH Pure Title on Thursday, August 3. Shibata confronted Woods on the July 27 broadcast of ROH on HonorClub after Josh Woods defeated Eli Isom in yet another Pure Rules battle.

– The Trustbusters (Jeeves Kay, Slim J, and Sonny Kiss) were beaten by Dalton Castle and The Boys (Brandon and Brent).

– Ring of Honor established a surprise ROH World TV Championship on July 27, followed by the tournament’s first round. See who advanced at this link.

– Trish Adora defeated Vita Vonstarr with Lariat Tubman

– Leyla Hirsh defeats MLW’s B3cca in the final women’s bout of the night.

– The Kingdom successfully defeated Tracy Williams & Rhett Titus
