Eric Bischoff Won’t Entertain The Idea Of A Full-Time Role In Wrestling: ‘It’s Time To Walk Away’

Eric Bischoff says now is the time for him to mentally and emotionally disconnect from any future roles in pro wrestling.

Eric Bischoff changed the professional wrestling landscape. By taking on WWE in head-to-head competition during the 1990s, the structure of the televised presentation of professional wrestling was given a new blueprint that is still utilized to this day.

Also, the pay structure of World Championship Wrestling during that time frame forced WWE to change their pay structure from a guaranteed $1,500 over the course of 10 contracted appearances to the guaranteed contracts that have become more familiar today.

While Eric Bischoff does have a lot of fun as a recurring character on AEW Dynamite and in 2019, tried his hand behind the scenes in WWE, Eric now says that it is time for him to disconnect from that period of his life.

Speaking on The Angle Podcast, Eric Bischoff said he would no longer entertain the idea of a full-time role in professional wrestling.

“It’s hard to describe. I’ve been thinking about that a lot lately. It’s just interesting because I think for the last 6 months or year of my life, maybe a little longer, I’ve finally gone, you know what, that’s in my rearview mirror. And I’m going to be really honest with you here, I’ve never had this conversation on a podcast with anybody. Even though I’ve been out of the business as a full-time person, when was the last time I was full time maybe 6 or 7 years ago in 2014. I dabbled a little bit. I do a little thing here and a little thing there, still very interested in the business. Doing my podcast, which kind of keeps me connected to the industry. For the last year and a half, you know what, if somebody called me today and said here’s this huge check I want you to come in and do this, for the first time in 30 or however many years, I wouldn’t do it. Because it’s that time to mentally and emotionally walk away from it.”

Eric Bischoff is still part of the AdFreeShows family that also includes names such as Kurt Angle, Jeff Jarrett, Jim Ross, Bruce Prichard, and more.

Eric took his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame earlier this year on the same night that the faction that helped him conquer WWE as the head of WCW, the New World Order.
