Eric Bischoff Talks WWE Moving Raw And Smackdown To WWE Network
WWE's television deal is their most lucrative property, to the point to where many wonder if they'd be better off moving Raw and Smackdown to their own network.
On a recent episode of Bischoff on Wrestling, Eric Bischoff tackled the subject of WWE taking their popular weekly wrestling program away from NBC Universal over to the WWE Network.
“That’s the six hundred million dollar question. If I was a betting man. I would bet that in the next two to three years we will find out what the business implications will be because that’s the direction it’s going. That’s a lot of television licensing revenue to walk away from but once the WWE Network reaches a critical mass that will support that decision I am almost certain that is what we will see," Bischoff said.
WWE currently makes $200 million per year total, not including "Total Divas." In order to break even on moving to the WWE Network, the company would likely have to double their subscriber base, which currently sits at 1.6 million paid subscribers.
