Eric Bischoff says that the New World Order’s influence is still apparent in pop culture today, and he jokingly pointed to an upcoming Marvel movie as an example.

The NWO is one of the most iconic factions in wrestling history, as it became wildly popular during the 1990s. The group was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as members of the Class of 2020, and its impact in wrestling is still felt to this day.

Speaking to Ryan Satin on Out of Character, Bischoff interrupted Satin when, during a discussion about the stable, he claimed that the NWO used to be part of the cultural zeitgeist. The WWE Hall of Famer pointed out that the title of the upcoming fourth Captain America has “New World Order” in its name.

“It still is, there’s a Marvel movie coming out called New World Order. What do you mean, ‘used to be in the zeitgeist’? What do you mean it used to be part of pop culture? Dude, my fingerprints are all over every part of culture that you see, even today, come on,” Bischoff said.

Marvel announced the title of the film, “Captain America: New World Order”, at San Diego Comic-Con; it will hit theaters on May 3, 2024.

Later in the podcast, Satin asked Bischoff to pick a winner in a potential fight between the NWO and The Avengers.

“NWO,” Bischoff responded. “Seriously? The NWO the NWO.”

Satin then wondered about potential clashes between members of the groups. Bischoff noted that Hogan would likely have Nash face The Hulk so he wouldn’t have to. He also expressed his excitement about a battle between Hogan and Captain America.

“[Hogan versus Captain America], that has to be, that is your main event. Are you kidding me? Captain America versus Captain America wannabe? Come on, that’s perfect,” he said.

Marc Raimondi previously announced that he’s writing a book about the nWo’s influence on pop culture. More information is available here.
