Eric Bischoff: Darby Allin & Sting Have A Mutually Beneficial Relationship, It’s Magic
Eric Bischoff talks Sting in AEW and the Coffin Match at All In.
Many matches at the All In pay-per-view were highly praised by fans, with one of those matches being the Coffin Match between the duos of Darby Allin/Sting and Swerve Strickland/Christian Cage.
On the latest episode of 83 Weeks, Eric Bischoff first talked about his bias for Sting and how he respects him so much.
“I thought it was pretty cool. This is where my bias comes in because I admit that I’m biased. I am so impressed with Sting. He’s only four years younger than I am, and to go out there and do the things that he’s doing…is he the Sting from 1992, 1993, or…whatever, early 2000s? No, he’s not. None of us are. But he’s out there, he’s still doing it. Audience loves him. So my bias and the fact that I think so much of Steve Borden and respect him so much, probably weighs in here, number one.”
Bischoff went on to praise Darby Allin, specifically for being able to wrestle with his hands taped behind his back.
“Number two, I thought the Darby Allin stuff, when he had his hands taped behind his back, now I’m going, ‘What the fuck? How does he do that?’ That’s impressive. That’s one of the most physically, athletically impressive that I saw throughout this pay-per-view because it’s so freaking difficult. How do you do that? I’m not even sure I could walk down the stairs backwards with my hands tied behind my back, let alone some of the things Darby Allin was doing. That was crazy fun to watch, though. I’d never seen anything like that. That got my attention.”
Bischoff also went on to praise the on-screen relationship between Sting and Darby Allin, saying that it is beneficial to both parties.
“Oh my god, are you kidding me? That’s the beautiful thing. This was almost subconscious, but that’s what I love about Darby and Sting. Sting is giving Darby the rub. He just is. Darby’s giving it right back. It’s a mutually beneficial relationship, where both talents are better because of each other, and I love that. That’s magic when it happens.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Bischoff said that MJF is the most valuable person on AEW’s roster. Fans can learn more here.
