EFFY Recalls Meeting Tracy Smothers, Planned To Work With Him Before He Passed Away
EFFY shares his memories of meeting Tracy Smothers.
Speaking with Brandon Walker of Barstool Rasslin‘, EFFY revealed that he first met Smothers he was doing tricep dips on a chair that broke causing him to throw it at a wall and walk away.
“The first time I ever met Tracy Smothers was with the Fullers. We were so nervous back there and he was doing tricep dips on a chair, and this is older Tracy. The chair just snaps under him and he falls to the floor and there’s this moment of silence and he grabs the and he goes, ‘Chair’s a bitch!,’ and he just throws it at the wall and walks away and it’s the first time I ever met Tracy Smothers,” EFFY said.
Continuing on, EFFY noted how he and Tracy were planning on working together down the line but sadly Smothers got sick and passed away before that could happen.
“Later in his career, at the last show I was ever on with him, he dropped a lot of gay slurs in his promo. Now, this is kind of typical for Tracy. It’s not excusable, but the man in the Confederate flag onesie is probably not who we need to be worried about. Well, he said it and I said, ‘I’m going to go fuck with him.; I went up and I said, ‘What the fuck Tracy? What was that shit? What was that promo?!’ He goes, ‘Oh, baby. Oh, man. Oh, God, calm down.’ I said, ‘No, Tracy, if you’re gonna do all that shit and get that heat, at least let me come kick your ass after and we make some money,’ and then we started texting each other after that. We were going to work down the line, but it didn’t work out. He got sick. We miss Tracy Smothers. What a one of a kind individual,” he said.
A veteran of wrestling territories and major promotions such as WWE, WCW, ECW, Tracy Smothers passed away on October 28, 2020. Following his passing, he received an outpouring of love from many he had come in contact with through the years.
