Edge Says It Was Obvious Most Of The Fans Did Not Know Who The Brood Was When New Day Mocked The Entrance

Edge comments on a number of topics.

WWE Hall Of Famer Edge returned to WWE TV in October to celebrate the 1000th episode of SmackDown. Edge did an in-ring segment with the SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and just two weeks after Edge’s appearance he made another “appearance” on WWE programming on the October 30th edition of SmackDown Live. In the embedded video above, The New Day paid homage to The Brood on that Halloween edition of the blue-brand exclusive show.

Gangrel, Edge and Christian made up The Brood and the trio were together for only a short amount of time during the late 90s. Edge caught a whiff of what The New Day were planning for that Halloween-themed episode of SmackDown because they gave away some hints when they ran into him at SmackDown 1000. During a recent interview with the New York Post, Edge further commented on The New Day dressing up as The Brood for Halloween:

“I thought it was great. Big E stooged it out though, because when I was at SmackDown he was like, ‘So ah, so yeah, so for Halloween we got a couple choices.’ I’m like, ‘What? What are you talking about?’ He’s like, ‘Oh no, nothing. I didn’t say anything. I didn’t say anything.’ Then even before that Kofi had texted me. He goes, ‘Hey man, how come you never wore a puffy shirt?’  And I was like, because I had abs then and I had to show those things off. So I knew something was up.” He said. “That was great, it was so much fun. You could totally tell that three quarters of that audience had no idea who The Brood was though.”

Edge talked about does he ever get the itch to get back in the ring and replied that not at the age he is currently at. The topic of conversation then turned over to older wrestlers who are still thriving like the IWGP Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho. Edge stated that Jericho has always been the type to wear many hats and try new things and that is just how Y2J is.

“Chris has always been kind of … wears many hats, and I think he needs to do that.” Edge continued, “He needs to do a bunch of different things to stay creatively stimulated. So it’s like, right, I can do a cruise. Sure, yeah, let’s give this a shot and I can have my band come on there and do shows and have bunch of my buddies and put on a wrestling card on a ship. That’s just the way Chris does things. He doesn’t think of limitations.”

Things did not only get “spooky” on that October 30th edition of SmackDown Live, but things got scary this past weekend at Joey Janela’s ‘L.A. Confidential’ show where David Arquette had his neck cut open during a match with Nick Gage.
