Edge Believes Cesaro Could Flourish In NXT
Edge gives his thoughts on NXT moving to USA.
On the latest episode of the Edge & Christian Pod of Awesomeness, the former WWE Tag Team Champions weighed in on NXT moving to USA Network and how the shift in networks and the addition of an extra hour will change the brand.
“It makes it feel like it’s a third brand. It’s not ‘are you gonna go up to the main roster?’ I’ve never liked that. It’s a lateral shift,” said Edge. “A lot of those talents are used to taped shows. Live is way different. And they go from an hour to two hours. One of the things I loved about NXT was that it was an hour. It’s just enough time to not over-expose anything, but to expose enough. What I hope is, if there is talent that is spinning their wheels and can do so much more, like an Apollo Crews or Cesaro, so many people, let them go to NXT. Let them shine and do their thing. That, to me, is how you can fill up those two hours and use those guys to teach the younger guys ‘this is live TV.'”
Edge continued, “[Cesaro] going to NXT would be great. I think he’d really be allowed to flourish there. NXT is great for that. It’s kinda like ECW was. If there’s something they feel he’s lacking, whether it’s a promo or whatever, it can be hidden and worked on there and focus on his strengths. I see Fandango and [Tyler] Breeze down there, and I’m so happy for them. They get a chance to get in there and go. There’s quite a few on the roster where it would be great for them to go over [to NXT].”
Cesaro had a stint in NXT in 2013, engaging in a well-received feud with Sami Zayn, which concluded at NXT ArRIVAL in 2014. He recently competed in the 2019 King of the Ring, losing in the first round to Samoa Joe.
