Eddie Kingston is trying to manifest his goal of winning the AEW World Championship.

In 2023, Eddie Kingston had a remarkable year, as he won the NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship, the ROH World Championship, and the AEW Continental Crown Championship. Still, Kingston’s ultimate goal remains the same.

Speaking with FOX 8, Eddie Kingston made it clear that he wants to win the world title.

“When I become the world champion – and I say ‘the.’ I hate when people call it the AEW World Champion, cuz it means it’s just a world champion for that company. No. To me, for not just our company, but for wrestling in general, when you’re AEW World Champion, it’s the championship. So when I get that, and I’m putting it out in the universe so hopefully the universe gives back, then I’ll sit there and go ‘I’m that guy. I’m standing on my business now,’” Kingston said.

During the interview, Kingston also stated that if you’re not pushing for the top spot, there’s no point in being in any sport. He compared it to being in the NFL and not trying to get to the Super Bowl, as he highlighted competitive spirit.

“If you don’t want to be a top guy, if you don’t push for that, then what’s the point of being in any sport? If you play in the NFL, if you’re not trying to get to the Super Bowl, then why are you sitting there – collecting money? Where’s the competitive spirit?” Kingston said.

Eddie Kingston recently said that he was waiting for AEW to send him to Japan to defend the AEW Continental Crown Championship.

Fightful will have live coverage of AEW Dynamite as it airs on January 31, as well as a post-show podcast on our YouTube channel.
