Eddie Kingston Before AEW All Out: CM Punk Is A Bitch, Maybe Phillip Wants To Be Loved Like Me
Eddie Kingston and CM Punk spent the fall of 2021 feuding with each other, leading to a match at AEW Full Gear 2021, which was won by Punk.
During a promo on the August 17 episode of AEW Dynamite, Punk brought Kingston’s name back into the mix while building his match with Jon Moxley, saying Kingston was the “second best Kingston and the third best Eddie” he’s ever been in the ring with. Kofi Kingston, Eddie Guerrero, and Fast Eddie were the names Punk considered above Kingston.
After the promo, Kingston tweeted, “Of course the cunt says shit when I’m not there.”
Speaking on Busted Open Radio before AEW All Out, Kingston was asked about his tweet and Punk’s comments.
“That’s Phil’s MO, let’s just call it like it is. That’s Punk’s MO. My man has a Punk shirt there, God bless you, I’m happy you’re a fan of his. I’m not. He’s a bitch, but God bless. You can like a bitch, I don’t. I’m joking, it’s all good [seemingly to the fan]. I understand he’s a Chicago guy, I get it. Doesn’t mean I want to wrestle him. Punk’s not a good dude, I can’t care what he says,” said Kingston. “Of course he’s going to talk trash when I’m not there. Of course he’s going to talk trash when the boss is in the way. I just think he likes me and he can’t get over it. Maybe Phillip wants to be like me. Maybe Phillip wants to be loved like me, I don’t know.”
Kingston continued, commenting on other AEW wrestlers he doesn’t like.
“People think a lot of the stuff that I do is a work, or whatever they want to call it, because everybody likes using insider terms and be in the know. I’ll give it to you plain and simple. I don’t like (Chris) Jericho, I don’t like Bryan (Danielson), I don’t like Claudio (Castagnoli), I don’t like Punk. Those are the people I don’t like in this company. There is nothing you can say or do or tell me that makes them different to me. I know who they are,” he said.
When asked why he doesn’t like those wrestlers, Kingston replied, “I’m gonna keep that to myself because people don’t need to know inside baseball. The curtain doesn’t have to be pushed back all the time.”
CM Punk pushed back the curtain during his AEW All Out press conference when he explained why he didn’t like Colt Cabana, Hangman Page, the Young Bucks, and Kenny Omega,
After Punk’s comments, an altercation reportedly occurred between Punk, Ace Steel, the Bucks, and Omega. Fightful Select has details on the altercation.
