Dwayne Johnson Reuniting With Director Jake Kasdan For Christmas-Themed Feature At Amazon Studios
Dwayne Johnson is headed for the North Pole.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Johnson and his ‘Jumanji’ director, Jake Kasdan, will team up once again, this time for a Christmas-themed film at Amazon Studios currently under the working title of ‘Red One.’ The WWE legend is attached to star, possibly even as Santa Claus, though that has yet to be confirmed.
Kasdan is also on as a producer, joining Johnson, his Seven Bucks Productions, and writer Chris Morgan, who is translating a story from Hiram Garcia into a script. Morgan previously worked with Johnson on four Fast and Furious movies, as well as the Hobbs & Shaw spin-off.
Amazon landed the project in June, reportedly hopeful to exploit the property across multiple avenues in addition to being a tentpole film.
Though details are scarce, Red One is described by Amazon as “a globe-trotting, four-quadrant action-adventure comedy, imagining a whole new universe to explore within the holiday genre.”
Filming is tentatively set for 2022 with a 2023 holiday release.
Fans of The Rock can see him in Netflix’s Red Notice on November 5 alongside Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds.
