Drew McIntyre Wants The Undertaker’s Career To Continue So They Can Meet One-On-One

Drew McIntyre wants to meet The Undertaker in a one-on-one confrontation before “The Phenom” hangs his hat for good.

Drew McIntyre was, at one point, the “Chosen One” in WWE. There was so much faith put into his ability that he was appointed The Undertaker as a mentor with the goal of them meeting in-ring at WrestleMania 26 a decade ago. As plans will be, plans will go awry.

Drew McIntyre’s first run in WWE did not work out for the best but after some time on the independent scene, Drew came back to WWE with a vengeance and is now the WWE Champion.

Drew recently spoke to the Daily Star and opened up about wanting to have a proper one-on-one with The Undertaker now that he is at the top of the industry. The two were on opposite sides of a tag team match at Extreme Rules 2019, a match that Drew McIntyre says The Undertaker was pleased with.

“There was a time, over ten years ago, where we were going to be building a big singles match with The Undertaker and I. We had one match right before [his match] when Shawn Michaels was retired, and that was my first official defeat. We had a tag team match as well… and a couple of moments when we went face to face. The crowd started rumbling when he started doing the throat-cut and I rose up behind him and Roman saved him from the Claymore kick.. and afterwards he seemed pretty happy,” Drew said. “I really think, given the right circumstances and considering our history and the fact he gave me my first official defeat, there’s a good story there. I know the match would absolutely deliver.”

All eyes are on Undertaker’s next and potentially final moves as the new WWE Network documentary series, Undertaker: The Last Ride has been a great look inside the mind of one of the greatest characters in the history of WWE. The next episode of the documentary will be available for on-demand viewing on Sunday, June 14, 2020.
