Drew McIntyre Wants To Have A Match With AJ Styles

Now that they are on the same brand, Drew wants the match to happen.

The 2019 WWE Superstar Shake-Up resulted in Intercontinental Champion Finn Balor, Roman Reigns and Elias moving to SmackDown Live and in return, the RAW brand added Rey Mysterio, former two-time WWE Champion AJ Styles and others. Last week on RAW, Vince McMahon established a Wild Card rule that will allow four talents from RAW to appear on SmackDown and vice versa which has already gone into effect. There are new matchups on the horizon with the Wild Card rule in effect along with the matchups that were made available by the Superstar Shake-Up.

Drew McIntyre who is competing in this year’s men’s Money In The Bank Ladder match is eager to mix it up with those who he has yet to wrestle in his career including AJ Styles. During a conference call that McIntyre was the focus of, he was asked about having a match with “The Phenomenal One” and Drew shared that he and AJ have traveled similar roads but were never on that road at the same time until now as they are both assigned to RAW.

“Absolutely! I have never had a match with AJ Styles. When I went to IMPACT Wrestling, he had just left. In the independent scene, we were trying to set up the match but that never quite happened. So, we just kept missing each other. When I came back to RAW, he was on SmackDown. Now, we are finally on the same show.” McIntyre continued, “When I first started wrestling, like 18 years ago, it was guys like AJ, Christopher Daniels, Samoa Joe, Low Ki who were the new generation of wrestlers with different styles, trying to get the attention. I am very much looking forward to that (battle).”

As mentioned, Drew McIntyre is a part of the men’s Money In The Bank Ladder match and to get a updated look at the lineup for the Money In The Bank pay-per-view, head over to Fightful’s “events” page.
