Drew McIntyre Wants To Bring A WWE PPV Back To The UK, Says WrestleMania 36 Won’t Be Forgotten

Drew McIntyre made history at WrestleMania 36 when he defeated Brock Lesnar to become the first-ever British WWE Champion.

And McIntyre doesn’t want to stop at just being the British champion, he wants to bring the WWE back to the UK in a large capacity.

“As long as we are able to produce content safely we’re going to absolutely do that and I want to defend my title as much as possible,” he told BBC. Tyson Fury has challenged me, so that would be interesting. But when everything starts resuming back to normal and I get the chance to come back to the UK, I want to bring this title back. I want to get an open top bus and drive from the top of Scotland to the bottom of England and just promote WWE like crazy. I’m going to make it happen. I made this happen – becoming the first-ever British champion – so I’ll make the pay-per-view happen too.”

WWE hasn’t hosted a major PPV event in the UK since SummerSlam 1992.

Drew’s title victory at WrestleMania 36 wasn’t the WrestleMania Moment he had likely hoped for given that it didn’t take place in front of 70,000 people. But Drew believes no one will forget what happened at the event too big for just one night.

“This is the WrestleMania the world stood still. I’m proud to be part of it. It feels so good to get my happy ending after 19 years of ups and downs – after clawing my way back, not even from the bottom, but from 10 feet under and starting again. WrestleMania has its moments when people celebrate and the crowd go crazy but as time passes by those moments are forgotten. This WrestleMania will never be forgotten,” he said.
