Drew McIntyre And WWE Haven’t Entered Contract Extension Talks Yet
Drew McIntyre is back, and set for a big Intercontinental Title program with Gunther, picking up where he left off after WrestleMania.
At the WWE Money in the Bank post-show press conference, Triple H dismissed reports of creative issues between McIntyre and WWE. WWE sources and sources close to McIntyre all confirmed that his deal was up in early 2024. Triple H said that he hopes that McIntyre was there for the rest of his career. While Fightful never reported creative issues between McIntyre and WWE, we can confirm that ensuring good creative was something important to McIntyre. While Drew was off TV and social media during that period, he was in continuous contact with Triple H and WWE, though he wasn’t informed of when or where he’d be drafted to. Sources close to McIntyre say that he has not signed a new contract as of yet.
Triple H also confirmed a Fightful Select report that Drew McIntyre had injuries that mounted up, and needed to get a couple of things fixed. He’d been dealing with injuries for quite some time, including gutting out the highly acclaimed match at WrestleMania with Sheamus and Gunther.
The return was kept very quiet, and both sides got suspiciously quiet in the weeks leading up to it. McIntyre was not brought to the presser and was spending time with loved ones while he had the chance.
We’re told thus far, contract negotiations haven’t started.
