Dragon Lee Promises “Big Things Coming Soon,” Says He Won’t Unmask For A Company
Dragon Lee teases next move.
On Sept. 28 it was announced that CMLL had parted ways with RUSH and Dragon Lee. The reason given by CMLL was that RUSH and Lee did not “comply with committing to programming and company guidelines.” In a statetment put out on his YouTube channel, RUSH stated that his loyalty with CMLL ended when Paco Alonso passed away. RUSH is still under contract with ROH in the United States, but Dragon Lee is a free agent.
During RUSH’s press conference (translation via Fightful’s Carlos Toro), Dragon Lee hinted at his next move, stating he’s talked to wrestlers in ROH, NJPW, and Andrade in WWE.
“Well, in reality, those are things that really are surprises from the Muñoz dynasty. I like to do surprises, I don’t like talking about what I’m doing next or who I might face. Simply, support the Muñoz dynasty and check out what I have in store for you. Big things are coming soon. Not sure what day I’ll announce the next company I wrestle with, but stayed tuned because it will be a big hit.”
When asked if he would give up his mask, like Andrade did upon signing with WWE, Lee stated, “Regarding the mask, it’s mine and I really don’t have any reason to take it off. If anyone wants me, they should want me for the talent and character that I am as Dragon Lee. I wouldn’t throw away the mask in that manner. I’m in love with this character. I have a great deal of appreciation and love for it and Dragon Lee will be here for many years.”
Lee will reportedly be part of the NJPW Super Junior Tag League, teaming with Titan, but his departure from CMLL could put his spot in jeopardy. NJPW has yet to officially announce the list of teams for the tournament.
