Draco Anthony Released By WWE, Issues Statement Saying ‘That One Hurt”
WWE has released Draco Anthony.
Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp reports that Draco Anthony has been released by WWE. Anthony previously competed as Blake Cortez on the independent scene. He signed with WWE in 2021, making his television debut on the November 12, 2021 episode of 205 Live where he lost to Roderick Strong.
Anthony would become a regular on NXT 2.0 at the start of 2022. He last wrestled on the April 12 episode of NXT where he lost to Xyon Quinn.
WWE.com has the following profile for him:
While everyone else is sleeping, Draco Anthony is in the gym putting in the work.
The U.S. Marine Corps veteran has had his fair share of critics and naysayers, but he has thus far proven them all wrong, stating that his actions speak louder than their words. Studying under WWE Hall of Famer Booker T, Anthony made an electrifying debut against Roderick Strong on 205 Live and has gone toe-to-toe with some of the best in NXT 2.0, including Pete Dunne.
Anthony’s work ethic and attitude have already captivated the NXT Universe and drawn the attention of Joe Gacy.
One day following his release, Draco shared a comment on Twitter expressing his gratitude to everyone who reached out to him. Though this one hurt, he says that he’ll eventually be okay.
That one hurt. But eventually I’ll be ok. Thanks to every1 reaching out, I just don’t know what words to say to be honest. Thankful and grateful for the opportunity —-. Enjoy the weekend
