Disney Channel Gives Pilot Order For Show Starring Blue Demon Jr.

Disney Channel has ordered a pilot for a show featuring Mexican wrestler Blue Demon Jr.

According to a report from Deadline, has given a cast-contingent pilot order to a show titled “Ultra Violet & Blue Demon,” a superhero coming-of-age luchador action-comedy from a girl’s point of view that is starring Demon Jr., who is also an executive producer.

As the show is currently cast-contingent, casting is underway in Los Angeles and Mexico to find a lead to star alongside Demon Jr. Casting is currently under the direction of casting director Carla Hool and if a cast can be found, the pilot would begin production in Los Angeles in a few months.

The show would feature a 13-year-old girl named Violet who, thanks to a magical luchador, becomes the successor to her uncle, Demon Jr. (playing as himself), who is revealed to be a superhero. The show would follow Violet’s superhero training while trying to keep her new identity a secret.

In addition to Demon Jr. working behind the scenes, Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit (writers for the “Detective Pikachu” film) are serving as writers and executive producers.

Demon Jr., a former NWA World Heavyweight and AAA Latin America champion, has wrestled professionally since the 1980s and is still wrestling today, recently competing at the AAA Guerra De Titanes show. Full results of that show can be seen at this link.
