Details Behind Planning Of WWE WrestleMania Night 1 Main Event
WrestleMania night one still doesn’t officially have a main event, but Fightful has learned more behind it.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that Rhea Ripley vs. Charlotte Flair for the Smackdown Women’s Championship was slated to main event. If that’s the case, several people who would typically be in the know, and many talent associated have not been informed that to be the case. The report stated that there were political reasons behind the decision, which we were told simply were the fact that there wasn’t a women’s main event on the 2022 WrestleMania card that closed the show
We can confirm that as of one point, The Usos vs. Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn was slated to be the main event of the show, and there have been several in the company pushing for it to be.
Seth Rollins vs. Logan Paul is also set for night one. We have not heard that the remaining world title match, Bianca Belair vs. Asuka, has not been considered for a main event slot at all.
Thus far we haven’t spoken to a WWE source that has confirmed Rhea Ripley vs. Charlotte Flair for the main event of night one, but have spoken to WWE sources who confirmed the tag team match was slated to main event at one point.
Note this report was as of March 19.
