Dean Ambrose Blames Brock Lesnar For WM 32 Match
Dean Ambrose’s appearance on last night’s Stone Cold Podcast turned heads for many reasons, but one of which was Ambrose’s match with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania.
Lesnar and Ambrose were booked in a ‘street fight’ at WrestleMania 32, a match in which many thought under-delivered. Those folks wouldn’t be alone in that assessment, as Ambrose himself said that he had to fight to make things happen in the bout.
“It was pretty cool. I went to the ring that night pretty pissed off, then as I walked to the ring I had no idea what was going to happen. Went out there with not much of a plan, so to speak. I felt like I was pulling teeth to turn that match into something epic. Artistically, Brock didn’t want to do anything, if you want me to be perfectly honest,” Ambrose said.
Ambrose specified to Austin that he and several others tried hard to create a specific kind of match and WrestleMania moment, but that the former UFC and WWE Champion Lesnar wasn’t having any of it. What resulted was a forgettable match on the most attended WWE show of all-time.
“Brock’s gonna Brock, he’s all about Brock. I had a vision for that match to be the craziest thing imaginable. I was trying to pitch everything to everybody, had every idea and I put so much effort in and so much work in. Other people did too, and I was met with laziness. I just kept thinking ‘at the end of the day, once we get in the ring it’s all going to be OK. We’ll figure it out once we get in the ring.’ We went out there, we whacked each other with weapons and I got suplexed a bunch of times. It’s an invigorating feeling walking to the ring knowing that you’re going out there with a man that can kill you with his bare hands in front of 100,000 people and you have no idea what’s going to happen. It’s pretty cool.I live for moments like that,” said Ambrose.
