Dash Wilder Reveals His Name Came From ‘Dashing’ Cody Rhodes

If you didn’t like the name Dash Wilder, you can blame Dusty Rhodes.

While speaking on Talk is Jericho, Dash Wilder revealed that his WWE name wasn’t his first choice, but it came to fruition thanks to Dusty Rhodes and a certain son.

“I was never in love with the name Dash Wilder. It wasn’t something I wanted initially. On my initial list of names, ‘Cash’ was at the top of my list. At the time, Dusty [Rhodes] was helping us find names in NXT and he liked ‘Dash’ because of ‘Dashing’ Cody Rhodes. I’ve never told Cody that because now I’ll never hear the end of it. ‘Cash’ was always the name I wanted and I tried to keep a similar last name. My name was a sentence fragment for the past six years. I was never in love with it, but I got used to it. Now, it’s a weird transition time,” he said.

Following The Revival being released by WWE on April 10, Wilder has changed his name to Cash Wheeler while Scott Dawson is now going by Dax Harwood. The duo are currently free agents, but are free to sign anywhere as they don’t have a no-compete clause.

Elsewhere during the interview, they revealed they would take their time in making a decision on their future. You can find their full comments by clicking here.
